After nearly 20 years at the same hospital, Angela was facing a question she had never expected to ask: How could she keep moving forward when everyday life felt so difficult?
Within three years, she had lost both parents, gone through
a divorce, moved back home, and watched her only child graduate and prepare for
his future. She describes that period as the deepest depression she had ever
experienced. Getting up and getting through the day became a struggle, and her
job was at risk.
Her first move with Aequor took her from the familiar warmth
of Los Angeles to a winter
assignment in Michigan. The below-zero temperatures were an adjustment for
both Angela and her dog. But when she began telling her recruiter, Mckenna,
that things were going well, it was clear the experience meant more than a
change of scenery.
“Honestly, the whole decision to travel saved my career and
possibly my life,” Angela says.
With each assignment, she had something new to look forward
to: a different city, new colleagues, and communities she might never otherwise
have known. Gradually, she felt her confidence and energy returning. Exploring
unfamiliar places and joining different healthcare teams gave her room to see
new possibilities for herself.
After years of being needed as a daughter, wife, and mother,
Angela also had space to reconnect with who she was as an individual. She was
learning what it meant to be simply Angela again.
She describes traveling as exciting and humbling. Every new
setting brought a reminder that there were still people to meet, places to
discover, and experiences ahead. Adapting to unfamiliar facilities became part
of finding her footing in a new chapter.
“My son knows I’m not perfect, and when I tell myself I
can’t, he tells me his mom can do anything. So I have to prove that every day,”
she says.
Angela also values the support she has received from Mckenna
and the Aequor team. Having guidance and encouragement along the way has been a
meaningful part of her experience, especially while navigating so much change.
Today, her story reflects what a fresh start has meant in
her own life: renewed purpose, greater independence, and the confidence to keep
going. From California to a Michigan winter, each assignment has become part of
her path forward.
If Angela’s experience has you thinking about your own next
chapter, explore travel
